This talks about the error.
Please, can you either figure out with the game devs what triggers it and stop doing that (only game I play that this happens and only in that game mode) or apply the Mesa fix to your driver repository?

Hello @allneuts, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.) Also, please copy your system information from Steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report.

Any number of video driver quirks can cause this kind of error and the issue you're seeing should also be reported to the video driver developers so that they can take a look.

@kisak-valve the maintainer of the driver repository is kisak Mesa.
This is your PPA repository, correct?
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa

It is apparently a known bug with an available patch?

Will add Proton logs when I feel like torturing my hardware and wasting an hour to generate the problem again.

After a fresh install, updates to Mesa, updates to Northgard and resolving some errors where it was expecting AMD files in certain folders; I thought I would try the game again. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn on Steam logs. These are my system ones before Northgard crashed my machine:

This issue has been resolved for me by switching to the Fedora LXDE spin.

I tried the game mere days before switching.
Now I have no problem with it.
