Hello @ExpandingMan, unrelated to this compatibility report, 32 bit OpenGL and Vulkan are not healthy on your system. Install the lib32-nvidia-utils system package.
Thanks. Looking around on the internet a bit, it seems that this is caused by a bug related to wine piping videos that are run through a windows API through GStreamer.
Anyone know if there is an environement variable for disabling it in wine? (I assume the program would run fine, I just wouldn't see the videos.) I looked around but couldn't find the option.
UPDATE: Ok, figured out how to disable it. Just launch with
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winegstreamer=" %command%
to disable winegstreamer. I guess it now handles calls to that lib as a no-op. As far as I can tell, everything will work fine now, except that you won't see the little videos in the perks menu (I don't even think these types of videos appear anywhere else). Extremely playable now! Will check back periodically to see if a wine update fixes this.

System Information
Proton experimental latest.
I confirm:
Symptoms
This game has very few problems, however there is a very specific menu that often causes the game to get into a locked and unrecoverable state. In the "Perks" menu, when mousing over abilities, there are little videos that pop up showing you a preview of what the gameplay looks like. When viewing these the log starts to emit some concerning messages (see below), and usually (but not always) this results in a crash with the line
I have not found a way to recover the game from this state
Reproduction
Play game, mouse over options in "Perks" menu. The problem is intermittent, but occurs frequently enough to make it difficult to play the game.
