Symptoms

Chime displays test patterns(?) on the main menu and in the background during gameplay, instead of video.

Also, a major regression seems to have happened since Proton 6; once you enter the main menu, the game will slow to single-digit framerates. If you manage to get in-game, the low framerate makes the game effectively unplayable. This does not happen in earlier versions of Proton.

Reproduction

  1. Boot up Chime in Proton 7.0-4
  2. Notice test patterns in the main menu and in-game, notice terrible framerate

Good News, Everybody!

There's a Protondb report here stating it fully works with latest Proton Hotfix:

https://www.protondb.com/app/62100#PYQHCbyQQa

And I briefly tested this on the Steam Deck (LCD) and CAN in fact confirm that! @kisak-valve can you please initiate retest & update the steam deck settings & compatibility? Probably needs a yellow cuz of some gameplay stuff but the unsupported flag definitely ain't warranted anymore.

P.S.:
controller seems to also "just work"!
