Symptoms

METAL SLUG displays no video when run through Proton. You can hear the audio fine and even go ingame, but all you see is a black screen.

  1. Start METAL SLUG
  2. Notice that there is no video

No effect, still no video.

Still no video using Proton 7.0-6 and Proton Experimental (as of 2023/02/10). I've also tried with the latest GE build. The current workaround is to install d3dcompiler_46 through wine/protontricks.

Games launches a black screen and keeps playing its soundtrack with Proton 8.0-1 as well (same d3dcompiler_46 workaround is still required to make it work)
