Symptoms

Unable to launch the game. Steam shows me as playing but the log shows that it's unable to initialize winex11 indefinitely, and no window spawns for the game either. other games I have installed do not suffer from this.

Reproduction

Download game and attempt to launch. happens consistently on my desktop. noteworthy that the game launches fine on Deck so it's not necessarily and issue with the game and proton, but the game, proton, and my hardware/arch config.
