  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The game always crashes in the same section of the first episode, which makes the game completely unplayable. This crash also has a chance to delete the save file.

Also shadows don't always render correctly. This can be seen in the main menu, where the camera rotates around the main characters. There is a huge skeleton in the background that has glitchy shadows.

Reproduction

Crash: Play the game until you reach the part where Rhys exits the camper.
Shadows: Random dynamic shadows everywhere in the game

Note

If the player uses the compatibility setting with Proton 5.13-6, then the game won't crash, but all the shadows either don't render, or a extremely glitchy and the chance of losing the save game still exists.

Log

Couldn't be attached, because it is compressed more than 250MB (17GB uncompressed)

Think I remembered seeing dxvk including a fix for the issue, dunno if it's in proton 8.0-4 or Experimental

Could you try to find that again? I tried both experimental and 8.0.4 and I couldn't really confirm that it has been fixed.

I re-downloaded it on my end and used the save file from the dxvk pull request to jump to around I'm assuming where the spot of the crash you mentioned is, providing pic.

download

On proton 7.0-6 and 8.0-4, as soon as I get close to the party, the game freezes up and silently dies, but on experimental, the game proceeds into a cutscene when you get close enough to the trigger.
