Offline works without problem. But I get disconnected all the time when trying to play online. One time I could play about 5 games, but then I got a desync into game crash.

Hardware and OS:

  • openSUSE 42.3 x86_64 and openSUSE 15.0 x86_64
  • AMD Phenom X6 1090 T @ 3.2Ghz
  • nVidia GeForce GTX 7300
  • 8GB RAM

I must correct my answer. After the fifth match the game has a leaking variable or something and crashes.

With Proton 4.2 the issue still exists.

Can confirm. The game crashes for me after the fifth match on offline matches as well. Other than that, the videos don't play.

Hardware and OS:

  • Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
  • Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.50GHz
  • 8 GB RAM

Ever since the cl-r update there's an intrusive black bar on the right or bottom of the window, it only goes away until you run the game at your monitors native resolution or higher (1080p for me). Using Proton 5.0.5-next with 5.6.3 zen kernel (also happened on regular kernel), RX 580 mesa 20.0.4.

desync / crash bug still exists with Proton 5.0

@wantija the funny thing is, that this partially black screen issue you describe also happened natively on my windows 10 installation. So I think this is not a wine/proton bug.

Hello @EpicureanGit, your log contains eventfd: Too many open files. Please run ulimit -Hn and verify it is a high value and not 4096.

EEpicureanGit 2023-05-03 github

My ulimit -Hn was set to 4096. I adjusted it to 8192 and then 16384. The game crashed with both but it took longer to do so. I don't know what a "high value" would be for ulimit. With "ulimit -Hn 16384" I could play for a while before the game crashed.

https://github.com/zfigura/wine/blob/esync/README.esync suggests a million, if I recall correctly, systemd sets half a million.

EEpicureanGit 2023-05-03 github

Thank you! I've been using the example found in "man initscript" and put that in /etc/ and adjusted the "ulimit -Hn" there. I'll try "ulimit -Hn 1048576."

The game is working fine now at my side. But I also have a new laptop with some fancy integrated AMD graphics.
I found o issues with current proton.

Btw my ulimit is 524288
