Compatibility Report

System Information

  • GPU/Video driver version/Kernel version: SteamDeck
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: N/A - not sure how to generate on the SD
  • Proton version: I tried Experimental, 8.0-3 and the default on SteamDeck as of the time of writing (not sure how to tell)

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

No issues related to Supreme Snowboarding exist as of now. SteamDeck is up to date and I use several versions of Proton to no avail.

Symptoms

The game won't start.

Reproduction

Download SSB from https://supreme-snowboarding.eu/. It is a limited edition which is shareware but that already doesn't work so I don't think the full version does either. The full version is harder to come by.

Copy the installer to the Steam Deck using an SD card. Run Steam on the SteamDeck in Desktop Mode and add the installer as a new game. Run it with Proton Experimental - the installer will run and install the game. Find the installed game files in home/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/meaninglessnumber/pfx/c_drive/Games/Supreme and add it as a non-Steam game to Steam in Desktop Mode again.

Switch to Gaming Mode, set compatibility to Proton Experimental and attempt to run the game. It will crash right on startup.

If anyone stumbles over this high-rated search engine result. I am the maintainer of the Lutris installer for Supreme Snowboard, created in collaboration with the developer and maintainer of the Supreme Snowboard Limited Edition.

Some notes: Don't install your games into the Proton prefix (compatdata/meaninglessnumber). It will be replaced or modified by Steam. Changing your Proton version will give you a new prefix with the game missing. Use some folder outside of Steam (for example /home/deck/Games).

I can successfully play Supreme Snowboard on my Steamdeck when installing it through Lutris. But as the gamepad support and resolution selection of Supreme Snowboarding is weak, I don't bother playing it from Game Mode and instead play it from desktop, in a window, with Software graphics.

If you want to try it or just see what the installer does, so you can replicate it with Proton, check the Lutris game page and the installer here: https://lutris.net/games/supreme-snowboarding/

Cheers!
