Symptoms

Unable to get into the game again, because of infinite loading of what (probably) should be a ingame browser window (according to some discussions, i dont know if that is correct)

Reproduction

  • start the game
  • click to start the actual game ("Link Start")
  • wait for the loading bar to finish
  • observe "loading circle" still being there and text under the progress bar to read Ready. Close the notice to start
  • wait some time
  • observe nothing changing

Additional Context:
this issue seems to also happen to steam-deck users, but they seemingly can if it by moving the game from the sd-card to the internal storage

for me the game lives on a btrfs disk (including the compatdata)

also likely related to the "Ready. Close the notice to start" issue seems to be that the ingame shop seemingly never loads any data (which is the original reason for me to have restarted the game)

Note: i also tried not having a controller connected, in case this should change, but nothing changed

(Note the "X" in the top right does nothing when clicked-on)

Hello @hasezoey, these look like some lines of interest from your Proton log:

also i forgot to mention in the original description is that current Proton Experimental has this game as a black-screen after window creation (only going back to 8.0-3 made it work)
but now trying to run with Proton Experimental again after the compatdata was created (and had a first start with the old version?) it now works in Proton Experimental
Experimental version: 1692722216 experimental-8.0-20230822

I have now tried to reinstall the game and noticed that what i mentioned about "a black screen on experimental", is actually on all tested proton versions(8.0-3 and Experimental) on the first start of the game and just requires to restart the game and it works.

After re-install i noticed that the initial menu with tabs Summary and Analytics dont load, but can be skipped by just hitting the Agree button (likely related to chromium).
Also after a re-install, on the first load (i dont know why, the images themself are loaded) the chromium window is layered over the loading screen images and so can be skipped by pressing ESC (or hitting a random corner, i am not entirely sure), but any start afterwards has the window behind the loading screen images (if it even is there).
Also this issue can be reproduced without having to fully go into the game and just going to Menu -> Notifications (which can be exited with ESC), which after pressing ESC shows for a brief second a "white window" (likely chromium)

Update:
via a steam discussion i have opened, i found that GE-Proton8-14 works perfectly fine, here is how the loading screen is meant to look after load:

I'm glad my advice via the Steam discussion helped and yes, I'm `raposasemalma'.
