Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: NASCAR Heat 5
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1265860

System Information

I confirm:

  • [ x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [ x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The game will start and play fine in Single Player but in Multiplayer, you can't connect to a lobby. I just get a generic unable to connect error. I have also seen failed to create socket error.

Reproduction

  1. Launch game.
  2. Click Race Now for Multiplayer
  3. Find an lobby.
  4. Press enter to join.
  5. Note error message

I made a bcrypt trace with my proton log here: https://gist.github.com/Alexithymia2014/e9fb0d61d9721ebe701ca0244d0263ed

This should hopefully be fixed with the just updated Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge] branch.

Don't forget to disable +bcrypt logging. There is no actual bcrypt bug here but having +bcrypt logging enabled will break the connect in nearly the same way due to game bug.

Hi gofman, this seems to work great now! Thank you! Shall I close the issue?

Thanks for confirming! Not sure how that works with close, but probably not, the fix is just in Experimental [bleeding-edge] so far and not even in Experimental default branch, even more so not in stable.

Good point. I will keep this open until someone like kisak closes it.
