Reproduction

Selected two different versions of proton and started the game and checked options menu since that was the first place where it's noticed.

So there's a mod for the game out already that says it swaps the Noto Sans the game ships with to Mendl Sans. When I use that mod the game's text appears. Proton Log with the mod running for reference:

Confirmed that the mod fixes the font issue above. But, I am missing the cursor for some reason. Is there problems locating the /data/UI/Cursors directory? Maybe a case-sensitive file naming issue? I'm running it on ext4 not btrfs, but I tried both and they both don't work.

This issue has been fixed by the developer with today’s Patch 1.0.1.

The issue with the text is fixed but the cursor is invisible. Is this a known bug or should I open a new ticket?
This is the case for both Pharaoh and the newer Dynasties version.

Hello @gcruzgar, in general we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title and this issue report is the right place to discuss all issues related to this game.

I am having the same issue as @gcruzgar, where the mouse cursor does not show up. However the mouse is still captured by the window and I am able to use the mouse. Though obviously the game is basically unplayable since it is trial and error to find the right thing to click on. My info is as follows:

System Information
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT
Video driver version: Mesa 24.2.6-arch1.1
Kernel version: Linux 6.11.6-zen1-1-zen x84_64
Link to full system information report as Gist: https://gist.github.com/burakcyildiz/c76b620bce0414f2ffd482a4c429e1f7
Proton version: 9.0-3, 8.0-5, 7.0-6, Experimental, Hotfix
Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma 6.2.3
Graphics Platform: Wayland (though also tested with my X install and got the same issue)

Just to add, I do not have this issue with any other Total War games (the ones I have tried are SHOGUN 2 and all its DLCs, Warhammer 2 and 3, and Three Kingdoms)

Let me know if you need any further info and I can provide it
