Symptoms

This game has a feature where you have to hide from bad guys and be quiet, it picks up if you make noise in a microphone while you are hiding.

The issue is that when a Bluetooth wireless speaker is used for audio output, the game seems to think it is a microphone (it reacts to the volume/audio output by the game, making it impossible to complete it this way). In this case I used an AudioEngine 2+ bluetooth speaker.

audio

Instead using motherboards regular line-out analog output there was no issue.

Reproduction

  • Use a Bluetooth speaker to output audio from your PC, make sure no Mics are connected
  • Start and play the game until you reach the firewatch tower (about 10-15 minutes of gameplay)

  • Enter the portable toilet at the firewatch tower and close the door

  • You will see a microphone volume bar show up, observe how it reacts to all sound output by the game (even though you have no mic connected at all)

The log file included is of walking up to and entering portable toilet while bluetooth speakers are used for audio output.
