The game works on Proton 8.0-4 if I unplug all of my controller devices (T.16000M + TWCS). If I plug in just a single of them, it will freeze after the splash screen.
Is this a Unity bug?
The exact same isssue also occurs in "Reentry - an Orbital Simulator" (882140), which also uses Unity, so I assume that this is a general Unity game engine bug with Proton (or WINE) when any joystick is plugged in.
The game now runs with the fix recently rolled into bleeding edge Proton (soon to be part of Experimental).

Game runs and seems to perform well, but I have input problems.
T.16000M + TWCS. I cant use the stick rotate (it's not being detected as moving in the calibration step) and if I bind the yaw axis to my rocker that doesnt work either.
This seems to still be an issue. Using a Logitech x3D Pro and I am unable to use the throttle and rotate axis.
This game works okay except when I plug in any external joystick I get a constant ghost input that affects mainly UIs - something starts to "move down/up a UI element" at random, it is somehow connected to the joystick input as pitching/yaw movements usually stop this ghost input momentarily but it restarts when let go and without joystick connected I do not get any of this.
I also can't seem to capture this ghost input for example when using the in-game controls configuration, nothing happens the dialogs just time out.
Does not happen on Windows with either joystick.
Arch 6.18.5-arch1-1, Proton Experimental, AMD RX 7900 XTX
I'm on windows 11 and have a similar issue where when I'm in the control settings with a joystick connected it randomly starts moving the selection upwards like what holding shift + tab would do in a browser
There is a setting that disables controller input in menus, so maybe that's just an issue with nuclear option and not an issue caused by proton?
The control stick moving like that is most likely caused by stick drift. You can try to increase the dead zones and see if that works.
This seems to still be an issue. Using a Logitech x3D Pro and I am unable to use the throttle and rotate axis.
Having the same issue with the Thrustmaster Flight Stick X, as well as the menu navigation issues mentioned elsewhere
@wereii @Kayanochi @CriOwO
In Nuclear Option go to Settings -> Controls -> Uncheck "Allow Controller Menu Navigation"
This will stop the "ghost inputs" when using a joystick/hotas
New problem: cannot release brake at all; key is bound on my HOTAS (Thrustmaster T.Flight One).
