Symptoms

i have tried many different proton versions and cannot figure this out. i also have another friend as well that has the same problem. multiplayer will not work. When we try to host a game the game will not connect to itself and when we join a game sometimes it will not connect from inside of the games multiplayer games window but will connect when the game is not running and a friend sends a request via steam friends chat

Reproduction

start the game and try to join in multiplayer or try to host a single player conquest and change the singleplayer to cooperative and try to host a game that others may join

It seems like there's a regression in Proton 9 and Experimental. The game crashes when creating/joining a skirmish, switching to Proton 8.0-5 or 7.0-6 fixes the issue. The issue is also present in Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge.

System Information:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600X
  • GPU: AMD RX 7800XT
  • Mesa version: 24.0.4
  • Distro: gentoo
  • Kernel: 6.8.4

Symptoms

If I try and run the dynamic campaign (conquest) mode with ultra textures selected then I get my vram maxed while it caches textures before loading mission. The issue is that I know I can run ultra textures. Since when I set my textures to minimum while the game caches to vram before a mission will launch, and then I switch back to ultra textures when loaded in it'll run perfectly fine with no issues.

Reproduction

  1. Launch game
  2. Start single player dynamic campaign.
  3. Make sure you've got ultra textures selected, or high also caused me the same issue.
  4. Do whats necessary in the conquest startup to be able to start a mission.
  5. Launch mission.
  6. Wait.
  7. Hopefully in terms of reproducing this issue you'll also have huge input lag, maxed vram, and 100% gpu usage.
