Symptoms

Game hangs while loading level. Also tried Proton 9 with same results.
I seem to remember the last working Proton version was Proton 5.13 but only with protontricks xna31 applied and this no longer works(installer fails)

Reproduction

  1. Start Plain sight
  2. Click LAN only
  3. Click Practice
  4. Select Arena
  5. Press start

Observed result: Game freezes
Expected result: game doesn't freeze

Hello @iodream, please keep in mind that Proton generally requires a Vulkan capable GPU for support. The PROTON_USE_WINED3D runtime option is not considered supported and your Sandybridge generation hardware is able to run some games with Proton more by luck than intent. Any issues with games that usually use DXVK or VKD3D-Proton with Proton need to have your issue reproduced with vanilla wine and reported to upstream wine.

Having written that, it looks like there's an issue running this game regardless of hardware.

Thank you for clarifying that. Yes i am aware that my hardware is technically unsupported but i tried to limit my reports to issues which have less to do with performance and rendering and more with general lockups and crashes, which seem to happen to other people as well.

Does this mean i should refrain from future reports?

Retested with latest Proton 11.0-2 and seems to work without any workarounds as described in the release notes.

The only issue remaining is if you alt-tab and go back in the actual mouse cursor's position will be slightly moved from the cursor being drawn on screen but that may be an xwayland issue.
