I did the same operations (installed physx) on a laptop that's almost identical but has a NVIDIA RTX 3070 with driver 550.67, and it worked. I'm uploading this log as "steam-205650-nvidia.log". Please let me know what can be done to run the game properly on an AMD.

Not sure that influences, but the laptop is running KDE 6 on Xorg, and the AMD PC is running it on KDE 6 on Wayland.
Sorry, in that NVIDIA laptop the default proton was proton 7. I removed the prefix, reinstalled physx and ran the game again as proton 8, so the log should be comparable now.

Ok, I left Wayland and started the game in Xorg and it worked. In the end, when under wayland, I found out that using gamescope with the resolution of my monitor (3440x1440) was enough to make the game work. Launch parameters: gamescope -w 3440 -h 1440 %command%
For me the application didn't launch. Installing physx via protontricks did the trick for me.
GPU: [Radeon RX 6700/6700 XT/6750 XT / 6800M/6850M XT]

Steam (native): Proton 9.0-4
Protontricks (flatpak)
For protontricks, starting with the --gui option and installing physx
After that launching the game via steam.

Additional notes
At first time, I looked at the proton log and noticed it was trying to call physx calls. So after that I used protontricks by
protontricks 205650 physixand the nvidia physx installation dialog appeared and completed successfully. But even then it would just try to start and bail out, not even opening a window or something in that fashion.
So I am attaching two proton logs:
Also tried restarting steam. Other games start normally but this one doesn't.
