Symptoms

My user information is not being recognized, the developer has stated that they use the official Steamworks SDK and don't do anything unusual with it, since the update v0.2 it stopped working all of a sudden - this was the introduction of a fix which disallowed users from joining other's lobbies without being in their friend list.

When pressing the "Invite Friends" the usual overlay to invite one does not appears and I also cannot join a friend's session. Considering that this uses the Steamworks SDK (and that's backed up by the logs) I do not understand what could be the root of this issue, moreover this is followed by another issue I have reported that the same happens so maybe it is an environment issue. I will be making a fresh install and trying it again to see if that really could be the issue.

Reproduction

Route 1

  1. Press "Invite Friends"
  2. See no overlay to invite such friends.
  3. Cry.

Route 2

  1. Get invited by a friend
  2. Open the overlay or the chat window
  3. Click join
  4. See that you have not joined any lobbies, or even gotten an error message

I tested this in my laptop, it works correctly. I've tried deleting my prefix, Proton's prefix and the game files... Not sure where to go from here as it might not be an issue with Proton but instead the packaging of Steam's libraries in NixOS?

Should I close this issue @kisak-valve?

~Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this issue any longer - after removing Steam from my home, it's prefixes and what I knew could potentially be holding old files that haven't been updated... I re-installed my system and it is now working flawlessly, however it might become an issue again someday as it has with Ground Branch in multiple instances over the last two years.~

~I'm not sure still whether I close this issue as it'd be tracking Grocery Store Simulator problems, so I'll await a response from moderators.~

Two weeks later after my system has been completely re-installed - I now have the same issue once again.
