Symptoms

  • Not able to finish the game installation (GFWL installation). Same problem discussed on the Street Fighter x Tekken thread. To be able to install this one, you need to edit installscript.vdf and remove the key GFWL-Marketplace.
  • After the installation, the game won't launch due to the missing xlive.dll. Main Proton error:
2769.690:0138:013c:err:module:import_dll Library xlive.dll (which is needed by L"Z:\\media\\sata01\\SteamLibrary\\steamapps\\common\\Star Wars The Clone Wars\\Republic Heroes.exe") not found
  • The current workaround is to use a mocked xlive.dll, then the game works normally.
    • Download https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases/download/v7.7.0/Ultimate-ASI-Loader.zip
    • extract the d8input.dll file to the game installation folder and renamed it as xlive.dll

Reproduction

  • Just try to install the game

Hello, I am trying to install Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes, on my windows 10 pc. I have the original CD disk, and when I am trying to install the game, there is a step that i get to, when I am being said: "Games For windows live cannot be installed propertly". I have a button to look for online help, or install anyway.

After I click on install anyway, the installer continues a little bit more, and then closes. Then, when I open the game in compatibility mode of windows XP SP3, it succeed to be opened, but when I actually try to play by clicking on new Campaign -> Padawan , it crashes with Error 0xc0000005 (Access violation). I think now that the reason for that, is because the files were not installed correctly, or completely, due to the warning in the installation.

I also have the xlive.dll patched version that bypass GWFL, and I tried to place it in the game folder after installation. All it did was to remove GFWL from showing in the game itself, but does not prevent the crash described above.

@ranplayer Do you have a suggestion of how to solve this problem?

Hello @sagisar1, you've come across the issue tracker of a project called Proton. Proton is a compatibility layer to run Windows based games on Linux. Since you're running the game on Windows, Proton isn't involved and the trouble you're seeing is out of scope for this issue tracker. You may have some luck asking around this game's community forums.

@kisak-valve No problem, thank you for the information.

This game still won't finish the prefix dependencies installation with Proton 10.0-2 (RC) (GFWL hangs forever). The same previously explained workaround works though.
