Borked on Mint 21.3
Looks to be the anticheat engine used EQU8. Sounds like it runs kernal mode so no chance it will be able to run through proton. Sadly we may have to wait for a native version.
Same here
Thought I'd point out if you erase the current launcher.exe for the anticheat and rename PortalWars2Client.exe to launcher.exe.... It runs. Not sure of the implications for getting banned yet though
Been playing for quite awhile. No bans. Running good. Few crashes here and there but it's an Alpha. Proton Experimental, 9.0 and Hotfix all work
@kisak-valve I had just made a report, but was looking for the wrong id? The storepage uses ID: 2918300 Can a title have 2 of these? In the proton logs it is indeed 3145170.
@BluedragonMask I have just tried with this. Seems that it's based on luck. I was able to get the game running. But was unable to queue into a match. Once re-booting the game, I am met with an account sanctioned. womp womp ig?
As for logs. Here is the game runnig when deleting launcher.exe and the renaming PortalWars2Client.exe to launcher.exe. The game itself seems to be playable, other than the anti-cheat. I am unsure there is any fix valve can apply.

The same behaviour is still seen with the latest "Open Alpha" build: See steam-3145170.log
What is interesting to note is:
77664.996:0168:016c:trace:loaddll:build_module Loaded L"C:\\ProgramData\\RedKard\\Splitgate 2\\bin\\anticheat.x64.redkard.exe" at 0000000140000000: native
"redkard" seems to be the rebranded EQU8 anti-cheat that was in use with SplitGate 1
Most likely we will need to wait for a native Linux build (which is in their plans apparently): https://www.reddit.com/r/Splitgate/comments/1f9s4la/splitgate_2_ama_with_1047_games_ceo_ian_proulx/llnx5tq/
it's now the open beta into the release. Still not working due to AC currently although they apparently plan to fix it, starting with steam deck
The AC got enabled for Linux. Now it works without any issues.
Seeing a quite substantial decrease in performance when going from Proton 9.0-4 to Proton Experimental. Stutter is dramatically increased despite shaders being cached + compiled, and overall framerate is far less consistent and frequently hitches when entering combat. Assets also take noticeably longer to load-in at full detail. Both DXVK and VKD3D were tested (for DirectX11 and DirectX12 respectively) and both displayed a marked performance degradation when moving to Proton Experimental. Game stability in general seems compromised on versions of Proton 10+, as frequency of mid-game crashes also increased.
The mouse does not work when in-game in Proton 9.0-4, however it does in Experimental, so possibly something to do with the fix is causing a regression.

try to launch the game and get that error above, probs something to do with the anticheat not currently supporting proton, hopefully they bring native support like splitgate 1 had or atleast proton compatibility
