Symptoms

Game crashes with a fatal error when trying to launch with newer proton versions (anything past 8), and the attached UE5 error is copied to the clipboard. When launched with version 7.0-6 the game launches but no keyboard or mouse input is accepted (from either a connected keyboard or laptops built in keyboard).

This is the log from the an attempt using the latest proton experimental. I had downgraded to the 550 drivers as I noted that a lot of people having issues were on the 560 set, but no luck there.

I resolved the crash during launch by adding DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=2070 to my command line, it seems the issue was related to it trying to use a display that wasn't associated with my graphics card (or at least it seems that way).

I ran into the same problem as OP with my AMD and was able to resolve it using the following custom command:
DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=7900 %command% (where my card is a Radeon 7900 XTX). I did not need to force a specific version of proton for compatibility and the game seems to play quite well
