It's worth mentioning that (at least in my experience), this freeze is only reproduce-able on X11 sessions, on Wayland it works fine.
This seems to be fixed in Proton 10.0-1 (beta), although it's not included in the release notes. As of the time of this comment Proton Experimental still has the freeze issue at the copyright screen.
I very recently am having an issue with this game, I believe it is caused by the latest Rockstar Games launcher update. I cannot get this game to acknowledge that I am signed in to Rockstar Games. I have tried deleting the prefix and using ProtonTricks to launch the launcher and sign in there, but no matter what when booting the game it always gives me the error of "You are not logged into Rockstar Games". When Rockstar Launcher loads, every time it says it is updating the launcher. Red Dead 2 seems to work fine, but it could be because my credentials are cached? I am not fully sure.
No matter the Proton version I try, it no longer works. I have tried the most recent Proton, Proton-CachyOS, and GE-Proton, as well as Experimental.
Here is my system info:
Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue with Red Dead Redemption (AppID 2668510) on an AYN Odin 3 running ROCKNIX (Linux ARM64).
The game crashes at startup with:
ACCESS_VIOLATION (C0000005)
I've tested:
The same device and ROCKNIX installation can run Red Dead Redemption 2 through Proton, but Red Dead Redemption 1 crashes at startup.
Device: AYN Odin 3
OS: ROCKNIX (Linux ARM64)
Platform: Steam
Game: Red Dead Redemption (AppID 2668510)
I can provide Proton logs or additional information if needed.
Thanks!
