Your system information

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1731433018

  • Distribution: Fedora 41, Plasma (Wayland)

  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No

  • Have you checked for system updates?: Yes

  • Steam Logs: attached

  • GPU: AMD

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

BG3: I can load a game, and navigate in the world just fine, all of which uses the keyboard. But if I type in a search box in the mod interface, for example, nothing happens.

Starfield: starting a new game, unable to name the character. (Also, the "Tab" key doesn't work in game, but that feels different as it isn't recognized at all). Can go through the tutorial up to the character-creator phase, and all the other keys work, but can't input text into a text field.

Expected behavior: I can type a characters name in Starfield, or search mods by text string in BG3

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start Starfield, continue game
  2. Get through the character creator section to name the character,
  3. attempt to name the character, watch nothing happen

Debugging already attempted / other info

  • I was able to name the character in the last BG3 run, so this started/broke after Oct 18, 2024.
  • Upgraded from FC40 to FC41 around Nov 12th. Don't know if linked, but can't disprove
  • Changing proton version doesn't appear to do anything
  • Changing from full-screen to windowed didn't do anything
  • Changing to Steam client beta didn't change anything

I did try and find a duplicate issue, but was unable to. Please feel free to point out what I missed.

Now I has a confused. I restarted: didn't fix it. I logged out and logged into Gnome/X11: DID fix it. I rebooted and logged back into Plasma (Wayland). It stayed fixed.

Rebooted back to a prior kernel: stayed fixed.

Gonna try and close on the basis I can no longer repro.

Nothing extracted yet.
