These look like a couple lines of interest from your log:

Sure, no changes. Even removed the prefix and shadercache and tried again for a fresh 8.0-5 install. Same symptoms, same message, I am attaching the proton log.

This should hopefully work with the just updated Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge] branch (while I didn't check much in game and was only using standard SteamVR).

Also tried with X Rebirth VR to see if it would fix this game too and it brought down the entire Steam... lol
