Feature Request

I confirm:

  • [X] that I haven't found another request for this feature.
  • [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available that
    contain this feature already.

Description

My request is the same as this question I had posted for WINE: https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=36803
When I click the File Open dialog in a program opened through Proton (usually ones added as a non-Steam program), the file dialog that appears by default is very bare. Many features are missing, and it looks exactly like the one in my question about WINE above.

After posting that question in the WINE forum, I learned that if I change the compatibility to "Windows XP" with winecfg, I can then get the standard Windows XP file dialog that includes all the features that I would expect to have:

My request is to update the file dialog used by Windows programs opened in Proton to be like the one in Windows, or provide some way to change it.

Justification [optional]

Opening most Windows programs in Proton through Steam is far more stable, and they run much faster, than running through WINE. I have found this to be the case with pretty much every program I've tried. There have been quite a few programs that I have major issues when opening in WINE that I have no issues through Steam/Proton.

Risks [optional]

I don't believe there would be any risks with this change.
