I'm having a similar issue with Ark and Cyberpunk: https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri/issues/1037#issuecomment-2614157553
It seems to not be related to the desktop env and/or XWayland.

For me, it happens with Proton 8 as well, so I'm going to look deeper into Mesa/Kernel/linux-firmware.
You could be running into the game recording update bug. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/11446
I doubt it since I have that turned of and the video I made was with my phone...... I run XFCE and I since two days turned of desktop composition and it seems that might also be related; but I have to do some further testing first (one thing at a time).
If you have disabled the steam overlay that's only when the bug occurs. Otherwise if you have or not enabled gpu recording doesn't seem to matter.
Well I enabled the steam overlay for now, just to be sure that is not causing the issue.
Hello @Sp3ci3s8472, this issue is already being tracked at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/5727. Closing as a duplicate.
I seem to have the following issue, when playing a game for a while it begins to microstutter. I reproduce this in the following games but not limited to Diablo 2 Resurrected (Proton 9.04), Dead Space (Proton Experimental) and Final Fantasy 15 (haven't got it installed right now).
The weird part of this is that the framerate of the games is stables and mostly hovers between the 70-120 depending on the scene; and that the mouse cursor does not exhibit any microstuttering. The gpu does not run out of VRAM considering that it has 14GB free in the Diablo 2 example. The system itself also has plenty of RAM left.
Quitting the game to desktop and starting it again solves the problem for a period of time. With Diablo 2 I don't even have to close the battle.net client.
My setup is as follows:
Latests EndeavourOS (Arch) Kernel 6.12.10
Mesa 24.3.3
7900XTX
7950X3D (igpu disabled)
VRR on my display enabled
I created a video of the issue in Diablo 2, if there are suggestions where to upload it?
If I left out any vital information, I'll add it of course.
