Hello @fbenedett, err:steam:run_process Failed to execute L"link2ea://launchgame/1238040?platform=steam&theme=daII", ret 31. looks like the line of interest from your Proton log.
I see that the issue is related to some EA lancher, I am googling it, but I do not see (or find) how it can be fixed. Any idea?
I don't know in my case all is worked fine even launcher in all DA's.
I'm having a separate issue to what is described above.
Using Proton 9 or above the game will launch just fine without issue but with no mouse cursor on screen. The mouse is detected as moving it around a bunch will show the main menu highlight options and such--there just isn't a cursor which makes a game like this unplayable.
No mouse cursor is displayed in game at all; the mouse still functions though.
You can move your mouse around and will see menu items highlight. Clicking items also works.
Install the game
Select Proton 9 or above
Run the game
This issue is also present on Dragon Age: Origins for my system
Running the games using Wine Staging (10.12) works just fine and the cursor is rendered

Hello @JoeHardi, can you check what happens with Proton Experimental? There's a couple possible fixes in there that wouldn't be in Proton 10.0.
Tried every verison. 9.0.4, Experimental, GE and Hotfix.
10 seemed to get the best results. All the other versions crashed immediately. 10 tried at least to installed EA App leading to the error.

Upon first launch of the game ('Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool' was NOT enabled in the 'Compatibility' sub menu under 'Properties' during first attempt to launch) the EA app was installed in the prefix successfully and the game launched and was in a playable state (was able to change settings in menus, start a playthrough). After closing the game and attempting to relaunch later, issues began.
The game would not launch, EA app would not open and the 'Play'/'Cancel'/'Stop' button in the Steam library page for Dragon Age II would change back to 'Play', indicating that the game had not launched successfully.
After searching online, I attempted to launch the game using different Proton versions (listed above). These had varying levels of success and were inconsistent upon each attempt to start the game. More often than not the EA app would try to install again, and would fail at various stages of the process.
When the EA app would install, I then encountered issues with authentication within the EA app, where I would receive an error message saying something to the effect of "We cannot authorise your copy of Dragon Age II on this device at this time".
Sometimes I was able to double click the icon for the EA app in the system tray and open the EA app, where I would receive an error saying that I could not play the game.
In my current testing (Proton Experimental and Proton 11.0 (Beta) the game fails to launch. After pressing 'Play' when I try to open the EA app it closes straight away, at which point I see the splash screen for Dragon Age II, after which the game doesn't launch. When I do not try to open the EA app, the splash screen sometimes does and sometimes does not appear. Either way the game fails to launch. This also happened when I disabled the 'Force force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool' in 'Compatibility' and attempted to try again.
I have attempted multiple clean installs of the game, deleting the compdata prefix for Dragon Age II and clearing my download cache and reinstalling again. This appears to have had no effect.
PS: From extensive research and reading of posts online, I suspect this issue is also relevant for most if not all games that require the EA app to run.
Install the game
Run the game
@Speed-Milker the game is working fine on my end with experimental, multiple launches, all going as intended. Try sticking to proton experimental, wiping the game's prefix, and verifying game data and see if the issue crops up again
@simifor Thanks for the suggestion. I have followed what you said but still getting the same results. Here's what I did:
I have attached my logs again if that is of any use.
@Speed-Milker can you try changing your launch parameter to PROTON_USE_WOW64=1 %command% and see if it makes a difference?

Dragon Age 2: Ultimate Edition
Proton Experimental
I've been having an issue where after an hour or so of continuous playtime the game suddenly loses audio, then returns completely de-synced and distorted. I've tried older versions of Proton, limiting the framerate to 60 through DXVK (which didn't work, the game continued to run above 60fps), forcing stereo audio through the in-game settings, nothing stops it. I'm hoping this could be looked into, and I wonder if it has something to do with how Proton/Wine interacts with the EA App.
