Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Skyfear
  • Steam AppID of the game: 814330

System Information

I confirm:

  • [X] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Proton Log: https://pixeldrain.com/u/buX33yap (Too large to attach directly to the issue as Github only allows ZIP archives and the log compressed to around 45MB. If there is another solution to get the file compressed down enough to properly attach it to this issue please let me know.)

Symptoms

When launching the game or while the game is running, pipewire audio has a random chance of breaking completely resulting in all sounds becoming either subtle crackling or failing to play at all. This behavior persists even after the game is closed until Pipewire and related services are manually restarted through a terminal. Entering and exiting sleep mode on the device also fixes the issue.

Reproduction

Launch the game from Steam with Proton 9.0-4 as the selected Proton version. Pipewire audio has a chance of breaking while the game is launching, while you're in the game, or when you exit the game. If it does not break, attempt to launch it again until it does.

OK, after playing the game for longer periods of time, the pipewire audio issues will always eventually happen (at least on my system). However when they happen is completely random and the chance gets higher the longer the game is running (in my case the pipewire audio almost always breaks after a few matches).

I also tried the game on Steam Deck, it runs and gets in-game, but has some frame-rate issues as well as having to manually change the control scheme in Steam to the gamepad placeholder to make the controls work in-game. Interface is also quite small as if the game is rendering at 1920x1080 instead of 1280x800.
