Symptoms:

The game opens, reaches the black splash screen with the spinning loading circle in the bottom right but it's stationary and then the game crashes. This all happens in about 1 second.

This no longer used to be the case. This issue must have raised within the 2-4 weeks (at the time of writing)

Looks like someone may have had a similar issue. I tried forcing proton 8 but I still have the same issue no matter what version of proton I force.

@shmink I have a very similar setup to yours, but trying proton 9 and experimental both the game worked fine.
Same kernel and mesa version, RX 6600 and 5700X3D.

For the log, you can try archiving it, logs tend to compress well. For things to try, I'd first attempt to verify the game files, and if that doesn't work I'd delete the prefix which in your case should be /home/youruser/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1290000

There's been some developments. At first, I tried everything @simifor suggested with no luck. There was a new kernel patch so I installed that and no luck. Then I decided to turn every feature off I could for the game. Because I recently got the latest DLC and this crash issue occurred I thought I would try anything at this point. I turned off all the DLCs to be sure, and nothing changed.

But then I turned off game recording (which I have set to always on) and the game opened perfectly fine. Below is a video showing the crash and then turning off game recording and the game working fine. At the end I also un-force the proton version and the game still opens fine (unfortunately the recording coincidentally stopped though so you'll have to take my word for it).

So proton wasn't the culprit at all. Or at least maybe not? I've had game recording set to always on since the feature was available and I feel I've played Powerwash simulator since that time. It's odd that it seems specific to this game though because I've opened up a few other games just fine and game recording is on for all of those.
