Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1261520

System Information

  • 1 Tb OLED Steam deck LE
  • Proton version: Experimental

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Not sure if this is a game quirk with the remastered graphics or another issue with amd mesa graphics, but on deck using the remastered graphics, all the water is completely black despite the game being marked as playable. Looking at older footage on youtube, it seems like the water used to work fine on deck.

Reproduction

Play until you get to water on deck (or I'm guessing on an amd device) notice the water on remastered mode, then swap to the og graphics and see it's fixed.

There might be some regression(?) in Proton Experimental, since using the stable Proton 9 (version 9.0-4 at the time of writing) in my system with AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT has the water rendered fine.

Tried it out again on 9.0-4 and I still get the black water issue, my deck is on latest stable update and using mesa radv 24.0.99 if it helps clarify.

Edit: Just checked the mesa github, turns out this is one of those issues.

Guess it'll be fixed when steamos pulls in a mesa version newer than 24.1.6 that has this fix.

Though looking into it some more, seems like it's still a problem on the intel side of things.

Update 2: Seems like it works with the latest beta update, so I'll close this once it hits stable

Can confirm the water is fixed on latest steamos stable now, closing
