Symptoms

Game doesn't launch. After pressing 'Play' Steam briefly indicates that the game is running (~2s) but then returns to normal. No game windows shows up during that short moment.

Ok, I've noticed that what's tripping the game is resolution scaling. The main monitor is 4k with 150% scaling. The game crashes with this setup (UE5 game go crazy also when switched to fullscreen). If I disable scaling, it works.

Tried running the game through gamescope, limiting the resolution to 1440p and this also works.

Following the most recent update, SteamDeck=1 is a required launch option, otherwise the game crashes on launch.

After today's update the game refuses to run.

Symptoms: The game will not load unless I use SteamDeck=1 %command% and disconnect my computer from the internet. I received the same error message coaxcode received until yesterday. Now I receive a new error message when my computer is connected to the internet and regardless if I use SteamDeck=1 or not. There are reports in the VF5 Steam forum that it started working on the Steam Deck yesterday.

Reproduction: Set the SteamDeck=1 %command% launch option in the Steam Client or not, enable or disable the internet, and click "PLAY" in the Steam Client.

After @EpicureanGit report i tried to run the game again and it now works! I didn't change anything. I do use use SteamDeck=1 same as before. It's possible they changed something on their remote?

Edit: There is also a report in steam's forums that they fixed it. post.
Edit1: This is on Ubuntu 24.04 with proton 10.0-4.
