I confirm:
that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
Game experiences unstable frame timing and inconsistent FPS when using the regular Cinnamon session on Linux Mint.
FPS becomes more stable at 250 only when using Cinnamon (Software Rendering) session — likely due to compositor interference.
Still very noticeable frame timing issues and stutters.
When post-processing is disabled, the game displays a white screen instead of rendering properly.
Enabling post-processing avoids the white screen, but causes visual glitches such as flickering or artifacts.
These issues do not occur on Windows and are specific to running the game through Proton on Linux Mint.
Reproduction Steps
On Linux Mint (Cinnamon), install and run Quake Live using latest proton build. Same issue in Hotfix, experimental, and proton 10 beta
Set com_maxfps 250 — observe unstable frame timing.
Log out and log into Cinnamon (Software Rendering) mode.
Relaunch the game — FPS is now stable.
Go to video settings → disable post-processing → screen goes completely white.
Re-enable post-processing → screen returns, but graphical glitches persist.
