I have noticed the same problem but I have an AMD card.
Games I have tested are Elder Scrolls Online and Path of Exile 2.
Proton 9.0-4
Proton 10.0-1
Linux Mint 22.1 (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 6.8.0-59-generic
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 12101011
X Window Manager: Mutter (Muffin)
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime_1.0.20250307.120442
Driver: AMD AMD Radeon RX 7600 (radeonsi, navi33, LLVM 19.1.1, DRM 3.57, 6.8.0-59-generic)Driver
Version: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 24.2.8-1ubuntu1~24.04.1
Corrected the tittle, originally tested on Proton GE 10-2 when i found the issue, and changed to normal Proton to confirm if GE is the issue or the new version of Proton itself.
Thus accidentally named it 10-2 instead of 10.0-1.
Sounds like Cinnamon ( Muffin ) is broken.
I cant repro that here with KDE ( Kwin ) wayland, rdna 3 gpu.
You are both on Cinnamon, one AMD, one Nvidia.

Not trying to sound like a smartass but if VRR is working for both of us on Proton 9 but not on Proton 10, something has changed in Proton that it doesn't work anymore on Cinnamon (Muffin)? So which one is broken? One could argue that Proton 10 has some changes in it that makes it not compatible with Cinnamon (Muffin)?
I wonder if Proton 10 behaves the same with KDE X11 session?
I have the same problem in Kingdom Come Deliverence 2.
Linux Mint Cinnamon
Can confirm, using Linux Mint 22.1 and Proton 10.
I was going crazy trying to fix it on Cinnamon's side but going back to Proton 9 fixes VRR entirely. I can play with VRR on all games when using Proton 9, but VRR is completely disabled when using Proton 10.
So for now I'm using Proton 9 until this regression is fixed (hopefully soon).
VRR seems to work with Proton 10 now. Not sure if Proton itself got the issue fixed, or updating to Cinnamon 6.4.8 fixed the issue.
i also confirm on proton 10 having issues on the binding of isaac and red dead redemption 2 on arch linux and plasma wayland

Proton version 10 caused Free-sync to no longer work in games
After changing between Proton 9.0-4 and Proton 10.0-1 I found that VRR (specifically Free-Sync), stops working when launching that game.
I have free-sync enabled through DisplayPort on a NVIDIA graphics card, specifications below.
I have tested this on the following games:
With Proton 9.0-4

With Proton 10.0-1
