Since Proton 10 I cannot use the Steam Deck's controller input anymore after a standby. Only keyboard and mouse are accepted. Restarting the game fixes it.

This is independent of the game. And it also happens with GE's Proton. With Proton 9 I do not have the issue. Latest games I tested with this are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and the Gothic Remake Nyras Demo.

To reproduce:

  1. Start game.
  2. Controller input works.
  3. Go into standby with the power button.
  4. Wake up with the power button.
  5. Controller input does nothing.

As a workaround one has to restart the game or use Proton 9.

Hello @bjoern-tantau, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to a couple game's launch options and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.)

Clair Obscur, Gothic and Giana Sisters. I started the game, pressed a few buttons, went to standby, woke up, tried pressing the same buttons and then quit the game using STEAM+right trackpad as the mouse.

And the system report from Steam for good measure.

It's gotten both better and worse (or weirder) with Proton 10.0-2 beta. Now the gamepad input works after a standby, so I'd say the original issue is fixed.

But now as soon as I touch gamepad input it looks like the screen is shoved half a screen upwards with the lower half remaining black. Meaning I can only see the lower half of the game. This does not appear on screenshots.

But at least in Clair Obscur, if I do mouse input the game screen is displayed correctly again. As soon as I do gamepad input the screen shifts upwards again.

In Giana Sisters it does not go back to the correct position when I move the mouse. But it does so for a second when I press standby. That is in DirectX 9 mode. In DirectX 10/11 or windowed mode the screen is almost correct, but the screen is stuck under my taskbar.

I will make some more experiments and see if I can capture it on a screenshot with KDE's screenshot functionality. Or if the issue persists in Big Screen Mode. But I wanted to upload the current logs first.

Edit: Same issue in Big Picture Mode and I was not able to take a screenshot.

Actually, the screen issue seems to be something else. I have it with Proton 9 as well. So this issue here is fixed.
