Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: RoadCraft
  • Steam AppID of the game: 2104890

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

When run with Proton 10, the GPU usage of the game slowly decreases over time : after an hour or so, it's down to 60% or lower, with a subsequent decrease in framerate. This happens only on Proton 10 : when ran with Proton 9, the GPU usage stays above 90% basically all the time even after several hours.

This does not seem to be caused by any other bottleneck (CPU usage is low, VRAM doesn't seem to be saturated, no thermal throttling).

Reproduction

  • Run the game with Proton 10
  • Play for at least 30 minutes
  • Notice that the GPU usage gradually decreases

Hello @ZazaLeNounours, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/8694#issuecomment-2910658624.

@kisak-valve I understand that you use a single issue per game, but I'm not sure moving this issue to an existant one is relevant here : I noticed it happening mainly in RoadCraft, but I'm pretty sure Red Dead Redemption 2 has a similar issue in Proton 10, I would need to test further to be sure. It seems to be a regression from Proton 10 rather than an issue with a specific game.
