Symptoms

this now started when i reinstall battlefront 2 and and Titanfall 2 after attempting to launch it, it opens up the install EA software game and once continued it opened up and you pop up when you're saying “preparing game” for about a minute and then proceeds to disappear and nothing happens a minute later, steam reports that you no longer playing the game.

Reproduction

Reinstall battlefront 2 and Titanfall 2 proceed to launch it continue the pop-up menu until reach that preparing game

I can reproduce the same issue on Battlefield 4. I think it's an issue related to the EA app, so this affects all games that use it.

Same exact issues with Jedi Survivor, started earlier this week as far as I can tell. Strangely enough sometimes randomly the game opens just fine, then the next time not so much.

I managed to get these games to run by using Proton 9.0.4. For some reason, this allows everything to run and install properly. Other versions do not work.

Also running into the exact same issue with Jedi survivor, and Titanfall 2. When I was running through gamescope, and I tried to launch the game through the EA app, steam gave me an error that the "game was already running".

All my EA games got an update and now Jedi Survivor seems to launch again no issue with default Proton, issue solved?

Just tested for Titanfall 2 and Jedi Survivor, still getting the same error with Proton experimental, hotfix, and GE.
