At least on my system, if using Proton 9, the game will start up, keyboard and controller inputs will work, but it might not always be the case.
On another system I have running Bazzite, and some other reports, keyboard and controller inputs do not work until you enter a dungeon (an area that allows fighting), or leave from a dungeon. Keyboard and controller inputs will also be lost again if using any sort of text input in-game. For example typing into the in-game chat by pressing 'Enter', or using certain consumable items in bulk by right-clicking on the consumable and being prompted with a number input window asking how many consumables to use.
Mouse input seems to have no problems.
Reproduction
A quick test to see if there is any keyboard/controller input enabled, pressing 'Esc' on the login screen should prompt a window confirming whether to exit the game.
If there is no keyboard/controller input, entering a dungeon, or leaving from a dungeon restores keyboard/controller input. Typing into text input prompts will take away keyboard/controller input.
