Proton can start wiping my disks (triggered by deleting addons in s&box editor) .

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download staging build of s&box (available in Properties - Beta - staging)
  2. Download project archive
  3. Replace sweeper in "steamapps/common/sbox/samples/" with the one from archive
  4. Launch the project
  5. Ignore the warnings and proceed to the editor
  6. Open "Library manager" tab and try to delete "Movie Maker" library.
  7. Proton will start wiping your home folder .

Tested with both Proton 9 and Experimental .

Hello @pinksquare, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4940#issuecomment-3172948085.

In general, Proton is not a security layer, nor does it inherently provide protections.
