Is it advised to create issues when ge-proton fixes something broken for vanilla proton? Maybe to flag quick fixes? Breakdown of the individual patches that fix the video playback is still in the works.

Game: The Signifier Director's Cut Demo
OS: Debian 13

Vanilla proton played testcard video instead of Signifier video:
https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=78986

ge-proton plays the correct video:
https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=79170

Latest release fixes the video:

Other releases were not tested.

Latest upstream commits of proton-ge play the videos without any other patch than ./proton-ge-custom/patches/gstreamer/5511.patch which was required to fix a build bug with pending fixes.

I'll try to build proton-ge without gstreamer/5511.patch to determine if it's actually the fix or some other component included in proton-ge that is missing from proton(-vanillla)

If I'm getting things right, you have a test pattern playing here, right?
If so, the following command might fix subsequent launches for you for this game: steam steam://unlockh264/

@simifor

steam steam://unlockh264 indeed fixes the test pattern that otherwise plays there in the background.

proton-ge may auto-enable the equivalent of unlockh264.

Thanks for this alternative method compatible with official proton releases.
