Symptoms

When trying to load into a race, either during the camera pan intro or when the racers appear from the rings, the game randomly locks up while the music still plays, with the game hard crashing a few minutes later. I have tried everything from flushing the wineprefix and deleting the game folder for any remains along with installing it on another drive, but none of those seem to have helped.

Reproduction

Set proton to experimental and start game
load into any race, grand Prix works as an example, just get through all the setup
Watch as the game loads in and freezes up
Wait until it crashes a few minutes later.
It can sometimes lock up in the menu, but it always happens when going into a race

Update, for some GODFORSAKEN reason, the only way to fix this freeze and crash (well not really a fix, more of a "hack") is to run the game in windowed mode at a smaller resolution, such as 1920x1080, i dont know why this fixes this or how it fixes it, but i was able to play smoothly once i did that strange hack, Still going to call this an issue though since i would preferably want my game to be fullscreen instead of a tinier window

Is the "Open Network Test" a specific thing on Steam? I can only see a demo and advanced access to the game.

It was a limited time item used to test online capabilities, although the
same issues also affect the demo version as I found out.
