looks like some lines of interest from your Proton log.

Which is as cryptical as it can get. Any idea what that points to?

PPatola 2025-09-08 github

Ok... For some reason, the game works on my Steam Deck with Proton 9.0-4. But why? Do I need to install any package via protontricks on my desktop?

Ssimifor 2025-10-05 github

@Patola The game runs normally on my desktop. Have you tried playing the game again on proton 9 to see if this is still an issue? If so, does it also break on proton 10 and experimental?

PPatola 2025-10-05 github

@simifor what's your distro? I just tested with each of these: Proton 9.0-4, Proton 10.0beta2 and Proton Experimental, cleaning the prefix between attempts. Same thing with the same Unhandled Exception messages, game doesn't start.

Ssimifor 2025-10-05 github

@Patola I'm on archlinux

PPatola 2025-10-05 github

@simifor Can you attach the list of your packages to this ticket? pacman -Q > output.txt and paste it here. I'll compare to what I have installed.

Your log shows a bunch of dll's being loaded from the game's directory (TrueEngine.dll, SteamManagedWrapper.dll, AdvanceMath.dll, SDL2#.dll, C5.dll) that I don't have. While these are referenced by the main exe, I think they're supposed to be handled by the obfuscator's AssemblyResolve event handler, not loaded from the filesystem.

I wonder if you might have older versions of these dll's still lying around somehow (maybe the exe wasn't always obfuscated?) and causing problems.

You solved the charade! Removing the files AdvanceMath.dll C5.dll SDL2#.dll SDL2#.dll.config TrueEngine.dll TrueEngine.dll.config made the game start and work perfectly (SteamManagedWrapper.dll had to stay though, otherwise it wouldn't start). I have no idea why these files were there. When I removed them I also performed a file verification on Steam and they were not redownloaded.
