Yeah, after installing vc2005 via protontricks, it shows the launcher, but then freezes when you're trying to run the game. With the DirectX renderer selected in the settings it freezes with a black screen, with the OpenGL renderer selected it freezes with this screen where nothing is clickable (train sounds can be heard in both cases, so it seems the game itself does something, just doesn't update the screen):
