The game reportedly works after installing a D3D patch, haven't tried. The native Steam version only supports Glide.

@F1ReB4LL I could get the game working without the patch, but it requires extra steps.

  • You need to use winecfg to change the reported windows version in the prefix for this game, the easiest way to do this is through a program called protontricks. By default, it'll be set to windows 10, you have to change it to windows 98 or ME
  • You have to move the game's installation inside the game's prefix and then link the game folder to the common folder where it was originally downloaded. This is an issue on windows too, there are several reports that the game won't work if it isn't being run from the C: partition.
  • If you're on deck or a low resolution monitor the game will still crash as it'll attempt to run at 1280x1024 by default, you have to change szHardware.ini in the game's installation folder and reduce the width and height, I changed it to 640 width and 512 height and the game launched on both desktop and game mode.

The official proton always makes a 64-bit prefix and protontricks won't let you change the OS version to 98/ME, since they were 32-bit, you need to make a new 32-bit prefix by yourself for that.

Nothing extracted yet.
