Hi
Forcing the experimental version (10.0-3?) brings up the menu on the desktop and works.
With Steam Runtime 1.0 (Scout ) dont generate the logs with PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Edit:
What I don't understand is that the save files I had years ago no longer load in the game, as if a game had never been saved.
However, I have checked that the files are there in the cloud, in the userdata folder.
How can I fix this? Or at least give you logs or useful information?

Savegames of the native Linux and the Windows version (which would be what you run in Proton) are incompatible.

It doesn't work for me.
I tried Proton Experimental, Proton 10.0-3, Proton 9.0-4, and Proton-GE and all give the same assertion failure:
Wine C++ Runtime Library
Assertion failed!
Program:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common/TmobRaider\TombRaider.exe
File: ../src-wine/dlls/winevulkan/loader.c
Line: 277
Expression: "!status"
Press OK to exit the program, or Cancel to start the Wine debugger.
This game is awful. First of all, what version is installed by default? According to Wikipedia a native Linux version does exist, but Steam only shows Windows and mac OS.
It seems the native Linux version is installed by default. It refuses to start because it can't open libicui18n.so.51. Fiddling with LD_LIBRARY_PATH didn't change anything, so I just linked all files from lib/i686 to lib directory (see here):
cd "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Tomb Raider/lib"
ln -s i686/* .
The Windows version using proton is completely broken.
Using Proton Experimental a Wine C++ Runtime Library window opens:
Using Proton 10.0-3 there's a 50:50 chance it starts or throws aforementioned exception.
Using proton-cachyos I get

Furthermore the Windows and Linux saves are not compatible and there is no tool out there to convert the saves. Multiplayer is not cross-platform either. See here
I was able to launch the game with Proton 8.0-5.
The game is launching normally on my end with proton 9,10,experimental and bleeding edge. This with a rdna4 card with mesa 25.3.2.
For winevulkan errors, drivers can be a factor so it'd be helpful to share setup details.
Above errors happen with kernel 6.18.2 and mesa 25.3.2 and 25.3.3 on a Radeon RX 7900 XTX. I am using radv, not amdvlk(-pro).
EDIT: I have set the kernel parameter amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xfff7ffff to enable clock and voltage controls, no additional tweaks. I didn't even change clocks/voltages, I just wanted a similar feature set I knew from Windows.
Is there a Feral tool available to convert native save files to Proton (from Linux to Windows)? People who use Windows save files in Proton have reported that they work, as you'd expect.
Game works out of the box with proton 10-04 (with gamescope as well)
but FPS is very low (30 on avg), even on medium settings i get constant fps dips to 19. for a game from 2013 and with my specs, i would think 60 FPS would be the normal. which is weird.
OS: Pop_OS! 24.04
Kernel: 7.0.9-76070009-generic
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
RAM: Corsair 64 GB DDR4 @ 3000Mhz dual channel.
GPU: Nvidia 3060 12GB (Driver 580.159.03)
MB: ASUS X570-I
@h-n-a checked on my 4060 mobile laptop and with vsync off and ultra graphics 1920x1200. In the initial cave I get 300 fps with proton 10, proton experimental, and windows 11. This is with nvidia 610.43, so if you have an opportunity to use more up to date drivers, it'd be good to know if that solves your performance issue.
@simifor i tried everything you can think of:
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0
DXVK_ASYNC=1
-I tried to disable steam overlay (and enabling it)
-Disabled shader caching. (And enabled it)
-Enabled ResizableBAR in bios
-The latest driver pushed by Pop_OS is 580.159.03
-The game won't launch with anything higher than proton 8.
-I've set the game to the lowest graphics settings.
-This issue is not specific to TR. it happens with "humans fall flat", The division 1 and 2, batman lego 1 and 2 and many others.
-This issue doesn't happen on my AMD based laptop with Ryzen 7 AI 350 which has radeon 860M.
-The issue will always start after 20-30 minutes of game play, then the stutter starts to happen.
What is common between all of them is gamescope. which im suspecting is the reason why but i could be wrong.
found the fix. using steam option LD_PRELOAD="" stopped the game from stuttering.
