Hi, the recent Ares update from the 28th of January seems to have broken the Easy Anti Cheat implementation.
Before this, everything worked perfectly, but now, we get the error (Failure #1, unexpected error) on Steam Deck:

Can this be resolved through Proton, or is it up to the developers ?

I hope this comment is relevant to the discussion of these issues.

Exactly the same issues on my end. Loads but then the first thing that happens after steam deck has loaded it I'll receive the EAC #1 issue.

When launching without wifi enabled it loads fine.

Gave this game a go on deck oled, and desktop, and it's working fine here. Tried with default proton, 10.0-4, and also experimental, and both behaved the same. This was with internet connection too.

Just in case it was something temporary, can you recheck and see if the problem is still there on your end?

Surprisingly when testing it again, this time, using both Proton 10.0-4 and Experimental, the game is able to go past the EAC error, but then it crashes when trying to open the window !

Just want to update that I've been successful in running the game on my Bazzite OS computer. Seems like the problem might be Steam Deck specific perhaps ? I had uninstalled and reinstalled the game fully on Steam Deck, on the SD card. Anyway, it is strange.

Ssimifor 2026-02-06 github

@DQuittard I installed the game on two separate steam decks, and it's running fine on both, I had it installed on the main drive but tried moving it to the SD card to no change, it still works fine.

Edit: Also, if you tap the cog in the game's entry on steam, then select developer>delete proton files, does the issue persist?

@simifor Sorry for the late reply. Seems like Developer>Delete proton files did the trick ! It was the only thing I hadn't tried because I didn't know it was an option. Thank you !
