Symptoms

Game does not detect gamepad.
Controller in question is DualSense Wireless Controller.

• tried to connect through bluetooth and usb cable
• tried to enable/disable steam input
• tried verifying files, rebooting, passing PROTON_PREFER_SDL=1 SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_IGNORE_DEVICES_EXCEPT=0x054C/0x0CE6
• tried latest proton-ge and older proton 8.0-5

none of that worked.

Reproduction

• Launch game
• when it requests any key input, any of the gamepad inputs are ignored. keyboard and mouse work without issues.
• might require launching in wayland.
