@XaratosS when does the game crash on your end? I was able to go ingame and get to the point where I control the character. Does it crash before the game windows is able to show anything? in the main menu? when trying to load into a save file? or after spending some time ingame?
If the whole system freezes there might be kernel messages. You can use the following command to store the log to share them here journalctl -b 0 -k > kernel.log this will store the kernel logs of the current boot session, if you are forced to reboot after the issue then replace 0 with -1 for it to load the logs of the previous boot session
I suspect that it is a driver issue. The UE5 logs say that the device disappeared.
I will upload some logs later.
It happens after some time on my system. Sometimes literally seconds in game, sometimes after an hour or so. Not in the main menu. There isn't really a straightforward pattern.
Most of the time KWin is corrupted when it crashes. It works after logging out and in again. Not every time though and it shows some weird behaviour until the system is rebooted.
I also had a crash to reboot.
still no luck here, 9060 XT, mesa 25.3.3, linux 6.18.5
Finished the tutorial, killed some spiders and then some blue spiders, found a monolith. The only issue I've noticed is random flickering, I get the impression these might be vertex explosions briefly covering the screen but I'm not sure
I have the same issues.
dmesg output
Spoiler, it's a lot of this, sometimes followed by Kernel panics.
amdgpu: Dumping IP State amdgpu: Dumping IP State Completed amdgpu: [drm] AMDGPU device coredump file has been created amdgpu: [drm] Check your /sys/class/drm/card1/device/devcoredump/data amdgpu: ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout, signaled seq=34589777, emitted seq=34589780 amdgpu: Starting gfx_0.0.0 ring reset amdgpu: Ring gfx_0.0.0 reset succeeded [drm] device wedged, but recovered through reset
Similar issues seem to have been going around recently (sometimes related to llms and ROCm), so I've downgraded to linux-firmware-amdgpu 20251021-1 for testing...which didn't change anything.
Haven't really found a solid correlation between anything I do and the crashes/freezes, either, though it may be related to autosaves.
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT
Video driver version: mesa 25.3.3-2
Kernel version: 6.18.5-arch1-1
Proton version: Proton Experimental, Hotfix, GE-Proton10-28
@simifor sorry for the late answer. The game starts and the main menu appears. As soon as I start a new game my whole desktop crashes or the application just crashes.
I thought that the Desktop environment is an issue and switched from Cosmic to Plasma but the same issue occured. Not sure what is going on there.
Edit: I will get the kernel.log as soon as I am back at home. Will add it here.
@Skollolol @XaratosS tried on an older computer with a rx 6600 and still nothing on my end. The game hitches while the autosave triggers, and sometimes when removing buildings the game will freeze for up to 2 seconds, but nothing that affects my desktop, nothing that gets logged in dmesg.
As I hadn't used this computer in a bit, it's a bit behind on both kernel and mesa versions (6.17.9 and 25.3.1 respectively) but before upgrading it'd be good to have the graphics settings you are using, as your issue might depend on some of them.
Oddly the game was working for me on the 7900 XTX (Proton 10) but switching to a Geforce 5080 I see the crash on boot (with Proton Experimental, Proton 10, and Proton 9).
Hello @DarkArc, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, reproduce the crash, and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.) Also, paired with that, please copy the contents of Steam Runtime Diagnostics from Steam (Steam -> Help -> Steam Runtime Diagnostics) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report.

System Information
I confirm:
Symptoms
The whole system freezes for a Moment before the game crashes and asks for a crash report. Sometimes I have to reboot the system because I cant control the system anymore.
Reproduction
Choose Proton Experimental and start the game. I also tried it with different Proton Versions but the game still either crashes the System or goes back to Desktop.
