I have been experiencing this issue since freshly installing Ubuntu 24.04 across various versions of Proton and various games. My game will launch normally half the time, and the other half it will become unresponsive shortly after launching (Anywhere from 10 seconds to, once, 5 minutes). Using ps I could see that the process is stuck in uninterruptible sleep, causing nothing to be able to close it. Steam freezes up if I attempt to close the game with it, and non-destructive methods of shutdown (ie. the shutdown option in my system menu) will hang indefinitely. I have to forcefully shut the computer down, as even overnight it didn't close.
I'm using 6.14.0-37 as my kernel, and I'm happy to share any other relevant information.
