Symptoms

Opening a new Terraria world always crashes the game with InvalidOperationException from XNA:

Reproduction

Simply enter any world.
In detail - open the game, select Singleplayer, create a character and select them, create a world and select it, wait until it loads, get an exception dialog, game crashes.
