3D models in the game (units, villagers, trees and environmental objects)
are rendered at noticeably low resolution and low detail, despite I am running Max settings.
The issue affects:
unit models (characters appear blurry and lack fine details)
environmental assets such as trees and foliage
overall scene sharpness
This is NOT a scaling or zoom issue:
unit size is correct
camera zoom behaves normally
UI elements are rendered at proper resolution and are sharp
The problem resembles incorrect LOD selection, low-resolution textures,
or a fallback rendering path being used under Proton.
The issue is clearly visible at 2560x1440 and higher resolutions.
Reproduction
Launch Age of Empires IV via Steam using Proton.
Set resolution to 2560x1440 or higher.
Start any Skirmish or Campaign mission.
Observe units and environmental objects (trees, buildings).
Notice that models appear blurry and low-detail compared to expected quality.
Changing zoom level does not improve model detail.
