I am curious about the potential for Proton as an alternative to the traditional wine CLI. Could this be possible?
It's funny, my need for Proton is to get access to the FireGiant Wix Toolset in a Windows environment, within Docker. So that I can create MSI (and DEB and RPM and APK and ...) installers for crossplatform apps, without relying on dual booting / VM's.
But I don't want to have to use Steam, graphical packages, or Docker in Docker.
Could we get some OS packages published for a standalone proton CLI? Or at least standalone binaries for common platforms.
Hello @mcandre, Proton is maintained with the intent that it's used as a compatibility tool for Steam. Packaging it for purposes outside of that is out of scope for the project.
